What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machinist position at W.R. Case?
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Confer with the engineering team, planning and manufacturing associates to resolve fixturing problems, as well as plans for new or revised machining projects.
- Ability to operate and program various CNC machines when required.
- Match fabrication technique and machinery selection to project budget/timeframe requirements.
- Use best machining practices and techniques to fabricate items needed for project.
- Must be qualified in the use of machinery including, but not limited to: CNC and Conventional Milling, Drill Presses, Surface and Form Grinding Equipment, Heat Treat ovens, Lathes, various saws and cutting equipment, as well as other hand/power tools.
- Calculate and set control to optimize machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or programs as required.
- Determine and perform inspection of work using precision measuring and gauging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining.
- Machine repair parts that are not commercially available.
- Responsible for cleanliness of the work area during and upon his or her completion of jobs.
- The job requires the operation of multiple machines, often simultaneously.
- Close attention to detail is required to prevent damage to complex machine tools and work pieces. Work involves expensive tools, fixtures, and work pieces where possibility of expensive damage is high. High visual and mental effort is required.
- Assist Engineering, Design/Prototyping, and Manufacturing teams on special projects as needed.
- Maintain and build manufacturing fixturing for all facets of company.
- Track time on daily tasks.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Two years of machining through a trade school or on the job experience required.
