Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare, particularly in emergency medicine, hospital medicine, and inpatient care settings. This role is vital in ensuring the comfort and well-being of our clients, allowing them to maintain their independence while receiving the necessary care.
Duties
- Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Provide mobility support, helping clients move safely within their home or facility.
- Monitor and record vital signs as needed, ensuring any changes are communicated to healthcare professionals.
- Aid clients with meal preparation and feeding when necessary.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Assist with medication reminders and ensure adherence to prescribed regimens.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in settings such as clinics, medical-surgical units, or Level II Trauma Centers to deliver comprehensive care.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a related healthcare role is preferred.
- Knowledge of emergency medicine practices is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with working in teaching hospitals, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), or similar environments is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families.
- Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team within various healthcare settings such as inpatient facilities or outpatient clinics.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is advantageous but not mandatory.
