Journalist/ Production Assistant- Entry Level

Job Description

W Radio is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and educated bilingual (English and Spanish) speaking journalist based in Miami. The ideal candidate will be an entry level journalist, with great interest in covering the most relevant news in entertainment, but not limited to politics and breaking news.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Research and report on compelling daily news, features and in-depth stories for our morning radio show.
• Cover breaking news with urgency and accuracy.
• Produce, write and edit special reports when assigned.
• Must be able to carry interviews with guests during live radio show.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays. The schedule of our daily show is from 6 am to 1 pm EST, weekdays. (Changes with Daylight Savings)
• Propose and produce personalities to interview in our radio show.
• Prepare document with background information about interviewee prior to scheduled interview.
• Research and petition credentials for important events in the city.
• Maintain and update agenda with contacts attained.
• Other duties and projects as determined by the Chief International Editor.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS/BA or MA in Communications, Journalism, or related fields. (Or in last semester)
• Must communicate clearly, concisely and in a compelling manner
• Should have strong story-telling skills and ability to handle simultaneous tasks, while working well in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be bilingual in Spanish and English with excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Employment/education will be verified
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $26,400.00 per year
