Responsible to assist the store manager and fill in during the absence of the store manager in supervision of all store activities including sales, deliveries, personnel management and operations. To perform a variety of customer service and operational functions, including coaching and training other team members. To lead the sales team by example with strong and consistent performances in net sales and all other KPIs.
Responsibilities
- Assist the store manager in directing, supervising and coordinating employees engaged in sales, delivery and daily store operations.
- In the absence of the store manager;
- Implements all company policies and procedures and interprets policies to employees, resolves employees’ work grievances; motivates employees; investigates and resolves customer complaints.
- Supervises staff to ensure performance of duties in a safe manner that meets company health and safety standards. Takes necessary action to ensure a safe, healthy work environment for staff and customers. Investigates the circumstances of all accidents and injuries and works with DM to file written reports with the corporate office.
- Supervises cash control; reconciles daily cash and sales receipts; verifies and makes bank deposits; ensures inventory accuracy.
- Processes cash refunds and merchandise credits and verifies the inventory accurately reflects the merchandise transaction.
- Maintains proper pricing controls and tagging on merchandise. Orders and transfers inventory to maintain sufficient stock.
- Ensures vehicles are maintained in a clean and safe operating condition and supervises the completion of daily inspections.
- Implements the company’s loss prevention program, secures the store and merchandise to prevent theft, loss, or damage; routinely inspects vehicles and facility and takes necessary action to ensure a safe work environment.
- Follows the advertising and marketing plans for store promotions and merchandising.
- Follows and enforces all credit granting guidelines and policies.
- Greets customers; provides product and program information, demonstrates product features and explains benefits.
- Strives to turn every potential consumer into a satisfied Badcock customer.
- Responds to customer inquiries in a timely manner.
- Takes, verifies and processes customer orders.
- Inputs customer sales orders and assists customers in applying for credit through WSB or SNAP.
- Explains credit agreement and payment expectations.
- Accepts and inputs customer payments and returns correctly.
- Reads and responds to email correspondence at least twice daily.
- Solicits additional business through telephone and card mailings.
- Follows up with all customers, both existing customers after delivery/pick-up or prospective customers before making a purchase.
- Is proficient and active with all functionalities of AVA.
- Understands the process of performing weekly category audits and assists the store manager in conducting audits as needed.
- Performs such other duties and accepts such other responsibilities as are necessary and appropriate for the efficient operation of the store.
Qualifications
- High school diploma / GED
- One to two years retail store experience (general.)
- One-year management; staff supervision; retail customer service experience.
- Ability to work flexibility involving work hours, including weekends.
- Ability to use a calculator and perform fundamental math calculations.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, and personnel by telephone, or through written communication; assimilate information and make decisions; work under pressure in a detailed, organized manner.
- Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, or move 200 lbs. with a dolly or assistance of another person without sustaining personal injury or damaging the merchandise.
- Must have the ability to lift, sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, twist and reach with hands and arms.
