The Inventory Specialist will oversee the accuracy and integrity of the company’s inventory. They are responsible for managing inventory records, conducting regular counts, and ensuring optimal inventory levels. The role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to ensure efficient inventory practices and minimize stock discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of inventory through daily audits, cycle counts, and spot checks.
- Data Entry & System Updates: Enter inventory data into the system accurately and in a timely manner, updating product locations, quantities, and any discrepancies.
- Cycle Counting: Plan and conduct cycle counts to reconcile physical inventory with system records, identifying variances and potential causes.
- Inventory Analysis: Analyze stock levels, usage rates, and turnover to support decisions regarding reordering and stock management.
- Loss Prevention: Identify inventory loss causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Collaboration: Work closely with purchasing, receiving, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth workflow and proper inventory handling.
- Reporting: Generate and distribute regular inventory reports, highlighting issues and recommending improvements to inventory practices.
- Warehouse Organization: Assist in organizing the warehouse layout to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency.
- Quality Control: Inspect products for damages or discrepancies, ensuring that inventory meets quality standards.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in inventory control, warehousing, or a similar field.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus).
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office (Google Workspace).
- Good communication skills to work effectively across departments.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving items as necessary.
- Problem-solving skills for identifying and addressing inventory issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of lean warehouse management practices.
- Familiarity with barcoding and RFID scanning technologies.
- Certification in inventory management (e.g., APICS, CPIM) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Warehouse environment with some exposure to varying temperatures, depending on the season.
