Material Handler Operator
Reports to : Steel Yard Supervisor
Department : Operations
FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
Summary
The Material Handler Operator performs the tasks of loading and unloading of materials from or to open-top commercial trailers and railcars.
Essential Functions
- Safe and responsible operation of material handlers and heavy machinery
- Accurate loading of outbound shipments
- Handling dispatch and BOL documentation
- Accurately completing loading or unloading paperwork with proper photos

Work Environment
The Material Handler Operator operates in outdoor environment. He / She often operates in equipment which raises the operator in excess of 15ft. which provides an overhead view of the loading or unloading. This role is also often exposed to weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, high winds. Dusty or muddy working areas are likely.

While performing the duties of a Material Handler Operator, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms. Required to talk and hear. Must be able to push, pull or carry up to thirty pounds. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Must be able to utilize hand tools and operator controls.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time (40 hours per week) position, Monday through Friday in the hours of 7 : 30am to 4 : 30pm. Overtime hours during the week as needed. Weekend work on need basis.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma.
1 years excavator, backhoe or material handler experience
