Job Summary
As the Project Manager / Project Sponsor – Large Projects Heavy Civil, you will plan, develop, coordinate, and manage onsite construction engineering activities for extensive DOT projects. You will provide overall management direction, ensuring projects are built on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while also identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards in line with the project management guide.
- Interface with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve problems and ensure construction quality.
- Oversee budgets and adjusted job costing; prepare and organize monthly project cost reports for review with Area and Division Managers.
- Plan, organize, and staff key field positions through regional department heads.
- Monitor and control construction through the administrative direction of on-site Superintendents, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
- Maintain active liaison with customers, joint-venture partners, subcontractors, and others to facilitate construction activities.
- Represent WW Clyde in project meetings and labor negotiations/strategy meetings.
- Identify potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
- Execute other assignments as directed by your supervisor.
- Leverage experience with Alternative Delivery projects to enhance project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of heavy civil large project experience is preferred, with at least 5 years in Large Construction Project Management.
- In-depth knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings & specifications, building materials, and industry standards.
- Strong grasp of technology and construction software is essential.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to assume responsibility and meet deadlines.
- Must be willing and able to travel as required by project locations.
