Role Overview :
We are seeking a Controller to help oversee and manage the financial operations of a behavioral health (residential co-occurring mental health and SUD) treatment center. This role is responsible for the organization's financial accuracy, compliance, and performance, including ownership of P&L reporting. The Controller will directly manage taxes, payroll, and financial reporting, while leading a team of two bookkeepers. This role will report into the CFO.
Key Responsibilities :
- Financial Reporting & Oversight :
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes on schedule.
- Prepare, analyze, and present P&L statements and other financial reports to the CFO.
- Work with the CFO to prepare financial reports for the board and lender.
- Taxes & Compliance :
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Prepare and oversee tax filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and adapt processes accordingly.
- Payroll Management :
- Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws, as well as payroll tax requirements.
- Team Leadership :
- Manage, supervise, and mentor accountants and bookkeepers.
- Ensure team members adhere to established financial processes and policies.
- Process & Systems Improvement :
- Identify and implement improvements to financial workflows, systems, and controls.
- Maintain and optimize financial software and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Cash Flow Management :
- Monitor cash flow to ensure operational liquidity and proper resource allocation.
- Oversee billing and collections to optimize revenue cycle performance.
- Audit Readiness :
- Prepare for and coordinate with external accountant for annual audit audits.
- Ensure accurate documentation and alignment with regulatory requirements.
