Position: Environmental Sustainability and Resilience Lead
Overview:A leading wastewater utility is seeking an Environmental Sustainability and Resilience Manager to spearhead sustainability initiatives and integrate resilience practices throughout the organization. This position will play a key role in advancing environmental responsibility, optimizing resource management, and preparing for climate-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities:Strategy Development: Design and implement an organization-wide sustainability strategy.
Performance Metrics: Establish sustainability KPIs, create visual reports, and present progress on a quarterly basis.
Technical Expertise: Provide guidance on sustainability programs, environmental policies, and best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across teams to embed sustainability principles into projects, operations, and policies.
Standards and Certifications: Develop internal benchmarks for achieving sustainability ratings, such as LEED and Envision.
Environmental Compliance: Oversee regulatory compliance related to stormwater, air quality, and greenhouse gas emissions.
Resilience Planning: Manage climate resilience studies, assess risks, and integrate findings into long-term planning.
Community Engagement: Represent the organization in sustainability-focused partnerships, public events, and advocacy efforts.
Internal Awareness: Educate and engage employees on sustainability goals and initiatives.
Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, climate studies, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
Experience: At least five years in sustainability and resilience planning within the public or private sector.
Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of wastewater treatment, climate adaptation, pollution prevention, energy efficiency, and decarbonization strategies.
Technical Skills: Experience with project management, data analysis, and geographic information systems (GIS).
Certifications: Envision SP certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership abilities.
Location: Primarily office-based with occasional outdoor site visits.
Physical Demands: Light lifting (up to 10 lbs) and minimal physical exertion.
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
