Hydrovac Operator
Location : Colorado Springs, CO
Full-Time | Pay : $25 / hr - $40 / hr
Position Summary
A skilled Hydrovac Operator is needed to operate Hydrovac trucks, trailers, and construction equipment for hydro excavation projects. This role may also involve acting as a crew lead, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
Essential Functions
Complete hydro excavation projects, including utility line exposure, debris removal, slot trenching, and digging.
Operate Hydrovac trucks, trailers, and equipment professionally and safely.
Supervise Hydrovac Laborers / Swampers to ensure project success and skill development.
Set up and inspect grounding and bonding procedures as needed.
Accurately complete all required paperwork on time.
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and routine equipment maintenance.
Competencies
Knowledge of underground utilities.
Skilled in operating heavy equipment, large trucks, and machinery safely.
Strong time management for timely project completion.
Effective communication within a team environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Often acts as crew lead, supervising Hydrovac Laborers.
Work Environment
Outdoor work at various client facilities or jobsites, possibly in inclement weather.
Loud noise levels requiring ear protection.
Occasional weekend, night shifts, and emergency response.
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and equipment.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to talk, hear, type, and operate machinery.
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
Must occasionally lift and move up to 65 pounds.
Must have adequate vision to perform tasks safely.
Position Details
Schedule : Primarily weekday shifts; includes on-call rotations for nights / weekends and emergency response.
Hours : Long hours with overtime opportunities.
Qualifications Required :
Class A or B CDL with Tanker and Air Brake Endorsements.
Current DOT physical.
High School Diploma or GED.
Clean driving record.
Must pass drug screen, MVR check, and background check.
Must meet qualifications to work on secured locations.
Preferred :
At least 1 year of Hydrovac experience.
3 years of CDL operating experience.
Mechanical skills and knowledge of vehicle operation, inspection, and maintenance.
Comfortable working in confined spaces and various outdoor job sites.
