Overview
We seek a highly skilled Plumbing / Mechanical Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of construction projects by providing accurate and competitive cost estimates and ensuring that projects are completed within budget. The Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to deliver top-tier service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze blueprints and other Construction Documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
Contact suppliers, vendors, & manufacturers to identify material and equipment pricing to support the estimate.
Evaluate material, equipment, and subcontractor quotes to ensure alignment with project scope and Specifications.
Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to gather necessary project information, identify potential risks, and resolve estimation discrepancies.
Prepare detailed estimates particularly for plumbing and Mechanical / HVAC systems utilizing estimating software.
Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality.
Develop accurate, detailed proposals that clearly reflect the intended scope of work and submit proposals in a timely manner.
Maintain and update cost databases, ensuring current market rates and historical data are reflected in future estimates.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy meetings and post construction meetings as requested.
Qualifications
Experience in estimation including private (Commercial / Industrial Buildings, Hospitals, Universities, Manufacturing Plants, etc.), NAVFAC, GSA, and State funded projects.
Experience in commercial / industrial plumbing and Mechanical / HVAC systems.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints front-end, and technical specifications.
Proficiency in cost estimation software such as Trimble or similar, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.
Proven track record of developing accurate estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems.
Strong understanding of Mechanical / HVAC systems, plumbing components, and installation practices.
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with a strong eye for detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members, suppliers, and clients.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
This position requires strong negotiating and organizational skills, the ability to perform detailed work in a timely manner, and follow up on open proposals.
