BASIC OVERVIEW
A Landscape Designer / RLA assists the sales department in designing outdoor residential spaces that include landscapes, hardscapes, and pool installations. This person spends the majority of their time in the office environment; however, they may spend some time collecting field data, meeting with clients, visiting active projects and performing post job critiques.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform site analysis for landscape construction projects
- Collaborate with salesperson / client to find best design solutions
- Create landscape designs including, but not limited to : base maps, conceptual plans, cross sections, detail construction plans, slide shows, plant portfolios
- Communicate with municipalities related to project specific criteria and permit applications
- Utilize hand and computer aided design to create 2-D sketches and color renderings
- Perform job take-offs and estimates for landscape designs and maintenance proposals including sub-contracted services.
- Create landscape proposals (using template), change orders and contract amendments based on direction provided by sales staff.
- Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors, as needed
- Prepare accurate job notes in the estimate to transfer to proposals
- Assist sales team by completing billing requests as needed.
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Use company's CRM software to log activities
- Provide site visits to jobs as requested by production teams to clarify details, approve layouts, assist with overall job success.
- Maintain a list of potential clients for marketing mailings
- Proofread and assemble proposals
- Work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multitask, maintain a professional demeanor and a willingness to learn.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
WORKING CONDITIONS
80% of the time will be spent in an indoor environment. Approximately 20% will be spent in an outdoor environment, with limited ability to control noise, airborne contaminants and temperature.
This is a full-time position. The employee is expected to work the standard hours of 8 AM - 5 PM from Monday through Friday.
The work hours required of this position may be longer due to the seasonality of the business.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The employee will work closely with landscape architect, team leaders, operations manager, owner, administrative assistant and clients.
