PURPOSE :
Set up, operate, and maintain Davenport machines to produce manufactured products that meet quality requirements.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS AND JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Understand the proper use of various precision measuring instruments.
Document and move materials to the next operation.
Read and understand print requirements for the Davenports.
Demonstrate knowledge and use of computerized SPC systems, entering data according to procedures.
Maintain record-keeping responsibilities, such as first piece inspection approval, lot splits, and job card / scanner input.
Perform daily lubrication, cleaning of machines, and chip removal for assigned machines.
Select proper tooling to perform specific jobs.
Sharpen tools, troubleshoot machines, set speeds and feeds for materials, and perform minor repairs as needed.
Set up and operate multiple machines in the department with minimal supervision.
Maintain and provide additional training as necessary.
Interpret dispatch, determine load, and work with PC for load distribution.
Solve problems and work collaboratively with supervisors, engineering, maintenance, and other departments.
Utilize standard machining handbooks and manufacturer's speed / feed recommendations.
Assist engineering and R&D in developing prototype parts, implementing new tooling, and improving machining processes.
Maintain good housekeeping in assigned areas.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1 to 3 years of related experience preferred.
Proficient in reading, writing, and basic shop mathematics.
LANGUAGE ABILITY :
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, process sheets, safety rules, and maintenance instructions.
Strong communication skills.
MATH ABILITY :
Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Capability to work with close tolerances.
REASONING ABILITY :
Solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Flexible in assignments and able to work cooperatively as a team member.
COMPUTER SKILLS :
Proficiency in word processing, manufacturing, and database software.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts in a factory environment with noise, oil, and smoke.
Operation of Davenport machines, precision measuring instruments, hand and fork lift trucks, scoops, weight scales, hoists, and copiers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Frequently lift and move up to 40 pounds.
Stand, use hands, reach with arms, and communicate effectively throughout the shift.
Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and bend.
