Job Description

Design fall protection systems for safe integration into existing buildings or new builds by providing calculations, detailing attachment methods, and evaluating onsite constraints.

Finding, identifying, and correcting fall protection hazards involves a significant amount of problem solving.

No rooftop, mezzanine, structure, jobsite, or steel mill are alike. Creativity alongside analytical and spatial reasoning skills play an important role in the Structural Engineering role of COMPANY Fall Protection.

Expected Outcomes of this Position :

Demonstrates alignment with company core values

Ability to design complex fall protection systems using fundamental structural engineering principles

Ability to visit client sites to gather data and identify safety issues requiring engineered solutions.

Ability to interact with the client to determine their needs and next steps for the project.

Ability to access locations at height, climb ladders / scaffolding, use personal fall protection systems, and wear additional personal protective equipment, as required in different types of environments.

Ability to document structural systems in existing industrial / commercial / institutional facilities.

Responsible for maintaining technical know Company through completion of various training initiatives : attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, attending in-house systems / management training.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties :

Leverage technical background of applicable codes, standards, and safety systems, oversee production of construction documents and manage projects from design through installation.

Develop schedules for new projects.

Clear communication between salespeople and installation team to ensure seamless integration of fall protection systems for customers.

Perform quality control reviews to ensure Company Standards and applicable code requirements.

Provide expertise and background information to all team members (sales, installation, and designers) to increase know Company and understanding of fall protection systems across the organization.

Frequent travel to project sites to understand customers' needs and develop recommended scopes of work (potentially up to 30%).

Engage sub consultants and subcontractors as needed to supplement in-house capabilities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

Strong leadership skills and desire to work as a team to support not only your project but those of other project managers.

Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.

Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.

Understanding / Training in OSHA / ANSI fall protection standards

Ability to pass background checks, drug tests and MVR check

Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience and Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering or safety, master's degree preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) licensure and / or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

7 years' engineering experience required in new and existing buildings utilizing steel, concrete, timber, and masonry design.

Experience in fall protection system design.

Pay is comprised of a salary wage and will be determined based off applicant's experience. Significant room for advancement within the company.
