We are seeking an experienced and motivated Survey Party Chief to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will lead field survey crews, manage day-to-day operations, and ensure that all surveying activities are performed accurately and efficiently. This role requires a strong leader with excellent technical skills and a passion for mentoring others.
Qualifications
Primary Responsibilities :
Direct and oversee field survey teams in various types of surveys, including boundary, topographic, ALTA / NSPS, and control surveys.
Ensure all field activities are conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and state regulations.
Plan and conduct field survey assignments using GPS, total stations, and other surveying instruments.
Collect, analyse, and interpret survey data for use in engineering and construction projects.
Maintain accurate and detailed field notes, sketches, and reports.
Utilize CAD software to process survey data and produce maps and drawings.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and timelines.
Communicate progress updates and address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
Ensure all surveying equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
Manage inventory of survey supplies and equipment.
Mentor and train junior survey staff in surveying techniques and equipment use.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience with 3D laser scanning and drones preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of land surveying experience.
At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role as a Party Chief.
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license preferred or the ability to obtain licensure within one year.
Proficient in operating GPS receivers, total stations, data collectors, and other surveying equipment.
Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ORD) and data processing applications.
Strong understanding of surveying principles, methods, and legal requirements.
Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.
