JOB PURPOSE :
The purpose of the Tax Manager is to help our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. The Tax Manager will operate under very limited supervision and will work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience. The Tax Manager can successfully complete all Tax Supervisor duties, as well as the duties listed below.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Technical
Demonstrate broad based industry expertise, thorough knowledge of tax law and the ability to provide advisory services to the clients
Complete technical review on appropriate clients
Develop new skills outside of comfort zone
Understand most aspects of the client's business concerns as applicable to tax laws
Complete research on complex tax matters
Review research and compliance work of team members
Successfully conducts tax planning for clients. Able to resolve complex tax problems
Develop a viewpoint on key tax issues and how they impact clients
Develop expertise in a specialty area
Develop project strategies to solve complex technical challenges for our clients
Ability to effectively utilize software to complete job (Ultratax and CCH and Engagement)
Analytical
Organize complex materials and concepts into basic elements
Analyze complex ideas or proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations
Recognize problems and propose reasonable solutions
Communication
Effectively communicate complex issues and circumstances
Write clear and concise business correspondence and communications with clients and staff
Simplify complex messages, highlighting and summarizing key points
Provide clear and honest instructions to staff while exhibiting effective listening skills
Keep the Senior Tax Manager or Principal informed of all important developments surrounding the engagement. Throughout the engagement, present problems that occur, with conclusions and recommendations.
Project Management
Manage large, complex projects, including delegation, supervising and evaluating team members
Proactively assist in the management of a portfolio of clients
Be involved in the financial management of clients
Develop budgets and deadlines and monitor each
Supervise complex engagements simultaneously
Bill and collect each billing cycle
Manage and deliver large projects by developing the project team, assessing engagement risks throughout, driving conclusions and reviewing / challenging the output produced by the team
Shape and deliver projects to meet and exceed the expectations of our clients and the Firm's quality criteria
Development and Motivation of Others
Contribute to positive and supportive culture
Provides real-time feedback and on the job training
Demonstrate the ability to positively motivate the team
Viewed as a role model
Train, coach and supervise team members
Client Relations
Develop positive meaningful relationship with key client contacts
Effectively and timely handle client inquiries, questions and requests
Practice Development
Continually look for opportunities to sell additional services to the client
Familiar with all client services provided by the Firm
Lead business development efforts with new and existing clients
Develop new relationships and make introductions to sell new services
Establish business development goals annually
Support of Firm
Support Firm decision in actions and communications
Act in the best interest of the Firm at all times
Continue to develop internal relationships and developing your brand
Seek out opportunities to contribute to the Firm in ways other than direct client service, such as recruiting, process improvement, staff development and retention, etc.
Self-Development
Involved in the community and / or other professional activities
Display positive and enthusiastic attitude to all staff members
Attend appropriate continuing education to maintain professional license
Seeks and accepts honest feedback on performance and demonstrates willingness to develop actions to continually enhance performance
Begin to develop a network of relationships with various Advisors
Maintain independence with attestation clients in fact, and in appearance, in accordance with AICPA and GAGAS standards
Participate in delivering client / target seminars
