We are currently looking for a VDC Specialist to join our VDC department located at our office in Charlotte, NC. Our ideal candidate for this position will have 5 years of experience with Mechanical Pipe design and Fabrication. In this role, you will support the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team by assisting in the creation, management, and coordination of 3D models and drawings for mechanical piping systems. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for mechanical systems and an interest in leveraging technology to enhance project outcomes.
Primary responsibilities for Company's VDC Specialist include :
Generating deliverables such as spool drawings / maps, installation drawings, and hanger maps.
Collaborating with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure accurate and efficient integration of piping systems within the overall building model.
Designing and modeling piping systems based off P&IDs and existing models.
Providing technical support to project teams by troubleshooting VDC-related issues and assisting with model revisions as needed.
Developing hanger and supplemental steel layout and fabrication plans.
Supporting the field and shop through the project lifecycle.
Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of modeling and design work, adhering to project specifications and standards.
Primary qualifications for Company's VDC Specialist include :
An associate's degree in applied science and / or equivalent relevant experience in CAD Drafting, engineering, construction management, or a similar field is preferred.
Proficient with REVIT, AutoCAD, BIM360, Microsoft Teams, and Planner. Overall strong computer skills are expected.
5 years of experience in mechanical piping design, VDC, or a related field.
Willing to travel on an as needed basis.
Ability to work within an environment with deadlines, and when tasked with multiple duties your attention to detail stays consistent.
Strong work ethic and ability to work well with both a team and independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to interpret and identify potential problems or risks and come up with creative solutions.
