Collaborating closely with CCUA's professional engineers, the CAD Technician contributes to the design of capital and private development projects, ensuring adherence to industry, regulatory, and organizational standards.

The Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technician utilizes specialized software to craft and refine designs, along with as-built drawings that bolster water, wastewater, and reclaimed water initiatives within the Clay County Utility Authority (CCUA). Collaborating closely with CCUA's professional engineers, the CAD Technician contributes to the design of capital and private development projects, ensuring adherence to industry, regulatory, and organizational standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Review and address all requests for as-built drawings from contractors, engineers, and developers.
- Update maps and drawings for developments to improve existing as-built drawings.
- Design as-built drawings in CAD to support CCUA's private development and capital projects.
- Review private development projects for compliance with regulatory standards.
- Support professional engineers by creating design drawings for capital projects.
- Review project changes and update existing as-built drawings utilizing CAD software.
- Create CAD drawings as requested for additional projects and needs within CCUA.
- Assist other departments with special projects or excessive workloads, as needed.
- Willingness to learn GIS software (ESRI)
- Generate C3D drawings based on legal descriptions as needed
- Perform As-built QA/QC checks in GIS as needed.
- High school Diploma/GED required.
- Valid driver's license issued by the State of Florida and have a satisfactory driver's record based on the criteria listed in the Clay County Utility Authority handbook.
- Associates Degree or Vocational School Certificate preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience utilizing CAD software.
- Some GIS knowledge/experience preferred.
- Systems and Software - Proficiency in Autodesk CIVIL 3D (or equivalent drafting software), MS Word and Excel, Filemaker, Google Earth/Google Maps, and ESRI ARC GIS suite experience required.
- Job Specific KSA's - Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D with the ability to create and edit designs. Knowledge of surveying and mapping fundamentals and geography. Knowledge of GIS Data collection, data entry, and spatial data editing. Geometry and trig proficiency.
- Customer Service - Provide high level of service to targeted customer base. Respond promptly and accurately to internal and external requests for information.
- Team Orientation and Interpersonal - Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels of the organization; collaborate and work with individuals containing a variety of knowledge levels and expertise. Work productively on a team and independently.
