Position Overview
Client is seeking a skilled and experienced Water-Well Pump Installer to lead field crews on water well pump installation and service projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, leadership experience, and the ability to work in demanding outdoor environments. This role is critical to supporting water infrastructure across municipalities, industrial sites, and agricultural irrigation clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a 2-3 person crew in the removal, installation, and servicing of large-diameter submersible and line-shaft pumps.
Operate Smeal pump rigs (12T-R36) and Stinger cranes for pump handling.
Perform well rehabs utilizing various methods like mechanical, chemical, well surging, airlifting, AirShock, etc.
Oversee on-site safety, task delegation, and quality control.
Diagnose and perform repairs on pumps, wells, and related mechanical or piping systems.
Utilize various equipment and tools for welding, fabrication, and rigging.
Drive and operate pump rigs or service trucks with trailers to job sites across the Upper Midwest.
Document work completed and communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
Travel Requirements
Travel to client sites throughout Wisconsin, northern Illinois, eastern Iowa, northwestern Indiana, eastern Minnesota, and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Overnight stays required approximately 60%-70% of the time, Monday through Thursday.
All travel time is paid and accommodations are provided with individual hotel rooms.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2-3 years' experience operating pump rigs (Smeal or equivalent) and leading crews.
Valid Class A CDL (or willing to obtain shortly after hire - employer-paid training).
Strong physical stamina: ability to lift 80-100 lbs repeatedly and work on your feet all day.
Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Clean driving record (no DUI violations).
English proficiency (spoken and written).
Ability to pass a drug/alcohol screening, DOT medical exam, and physical capability test.
Preferred Qualifications
Crane operator certification.
Wisconsin Licensed Pump Installer.
Experience with electrical troubleshooting, mechanical piping, and well rehabilitation.
