Key Responsibilities
- Lead and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all entities, including compliance with GAAP and STAT accounting standards, for internal and external stakeholders such as senior management, regulators, analysts, and Boards of Directors.
- Oversee the development, analysis, and presentation of budgets to the management team and Boards.
- Manage treasury and cash management functions, optimizing banking relationships and implementing strategies for improvement.
- Develop and oversee cost allocation processes across entities and programs.
- Act as the primary financial liaison for independent audits, state examinations, and interactions with external auditors, analysts, and examiners.
- Provide strategic financial leadership, including evaluating opportunities to improve business performance and Return on Equity (ROE) / Return on Investment (ROI).
- Collaborate on investment and risk management initiatives, including enterprise risk management (ERM) processes.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, including succession planning, performance appraisals, and coaching for professional growth.
- Stay current with financial regulations and trends to ensure compliance and optimize financial operations.
- Deliver clear, strategic presentations to Boards of Directors and other key stakeholders.
- Plan and lead efforts to align financial policies, reporting systems, and controls with organizational objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by ownership.
- Expertise in insurance (L&H / P&C) and reinsurance financial operations.
- Strong technical skills in GAAP and STAT accounting, as well as treasury, cash management, and banking.
- Proficient in planning, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Experience with investments, IT integration, and ERM initiatives.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills at both strategic and functional levels.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, including delivering reports to Boards.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, multiple entities, and a diverse range of responsibilities.
- Customer service-oriented mindset, with a commitment to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, with CPA required.
- MBA strongly preferred, along with significant experience in the insurance and financial services industries.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in senior financial leadership roles.
- Proven ability to think strategically and plan over a 2-3 year horizon.
