A leading provider of structural components, assemblies, and kits to the aerospace industry is hiring a Procurement Manager. The company specializes in the assembly and fabrication of complex sheet metal and machined components for commercial, corporate, and military aircraft.
The Procurement Manager leads the team of Buyers purchasing raw material, hardware, and production supplies in support of production schedules and customer deliveries. Plan and manage the quoting, negotiation, contracting, and supplier quality and delivery performance for outsourced manufactured parts and assemblies.
Essential Functions
Education
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Supply Chain or Business
Experience
The Procurement Manager leads the team of Buyers purchasing raw material, hardware, and production supplies in support of production schedules and customer deliveries. Plan and manage the quoting, negotiation, contracting, and supplier quality and delivery performance for outsourced manufactured parts and assemblies.
Essential Functions
- Leads and manages the Procurement department ensuring organizational deliverables are met in support of company business goals and objectives.
- Provides professional and technical guidance and assistance to direct report Buyers of raw material, hardware, and production supplies.
- Directly manages suppliers of outsourced fabricated parts and simple assemblies from quote through delivery, including placement of POs, negotiation of schedules and terms, and supplier performance to quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Develops and nurtures a supplier network that provides capabilities and capacities needed to deliver quality products on time.
- Monitors and manages ERP/MRP demand from Procurement and ensures system settings reflect Procurement and/or Supplier requirements.
- Functions as a collaborative team member, operating under minimal supervision and contributing to the overall success of the department.
Education
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Supply Chain or Business
Experience
- 5 years of Procurement experience
- 2-3 years of leadership/supervisory experience preferred
- Strong understanding of Materials Management is an asset
- Profound understanding of the Lean manufacturing methodology and application
- Proven track record in driving results in materials management
- A broad understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and SAP
- Prior experience managing supplier and/or cross-functional relationships
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
