About The Position

The Shop Superintendent will oversee operations at a Memphis-area steel fabrication shop. This role involves managing a team, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining high standards in fabrication and welding processes. The Superintendent will also be responsible for training new hires and effectively communicating production goals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations in the steel fabrication shop.
• Manage and lead a team of fabricators and welders.
• Inspect welds and ensure quality standards are met.
• Train new hires in safety, welding, and fabrication processes.
• Communicate daily production goals and updates verbally and in writing.
• Uphold company policies and procedures, holding employees accountable.
• Foster a safety-first mindset among all team members.
  
  

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication and welding.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Familiarity with structural steel CNC processing equipment is required.
• Strong communication skills for effective team management.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a leadership mindset.
  
  

Nice-to-Haves

• Knowledge of loading trucks and ability to drive a jockey truck.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
