Terms of Employment: 183 days
Evaluation Period:
- Formative evaluations throughout the school year as per WCS Performance and Assessment Procedures.
- Annual summative evaluation prior to July 1.
Purpose of the Position:
- Deliver high quality professional development to teachers and instructional assistants that will produce measurable results of student achievement.
- Analyze formative assessment data to select targeted interventions and train instructional assistants
- Coordinate schedule for intervention groups to support student learning
Minimum Requirements: The following are the qualifications and minimum requirements necessary for a person to perform this job.
- 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Valid Indiana Teaching License
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills.
Essential Functions of the Position: The following functions have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be essential to the successful performance of this position.
- Evaluate the reading, English Language Arts, and math programs in the system and develops strategies for implementation and increasing achievement
- Assist principals in developing school improvement plans (including literacy plans)
- Work with the principals to create a school-wide focus on goals for achievement.
- Develop long range professional development plan for staff
- Lead selected professional development trainings for teachers
- Guide teachers to collect and analyze data and develop actionable plans in response to student needs.
- Provide individualized, classroom-based support to implement comprehensive program. This will include modeling of best teaching practices.
- Participate fully in professional development opportunities and professional research and reading.
- Research and provide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and innovative instructional practices through various activities such as:
o individual discussions (informal and formal)
o coaching sessions
o demonstration lessons with pre-and post-discussion/analysis
o study groups
o staff meetings; and
o professional development programs
- Work with identified struggling students in small groups or 1-1 sessions
- Maintain paperwork consistently, appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain the confidentiality of schools, teachers, and classrooms.
- Coordinate/facilitate instructional material pilots and implementations (including software).
Secondary Functions of the Position: The following functions, while important and necessary to the position, have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be marginal to the successful performance of this position.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or as directed by the Superintendent, Curriculum Director, or Building Principals.
Knowledge of:
- Policies, procedures and functions of Wa-Nee Community Schools Board of Trustees and the Indiana Department of Education
- Applicable software and applications
Ability to:

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Must be able to hear and speak clearly.
- Must be able to lift items of 20 lbs. regularly/50 lbs. occasionally.
