Job Summary
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and knowledgeable Cannabis METRC Technician to join our team at Waabigwan Mashkiki. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and ensuring the accuracy of all cannabis-related inventory, tracking, and compliance data using the METRC (Marijuana Enforcement Tracking Reporting Compliance) system. This role is vital to maintaining adherence to all regulatory requirements and streamlining our seed-to-sale process in the cannabis industry. As well as keeping up to date with the updated processes that are ever changing within the company SOP’s and State mandated legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
METRC Compliance:
Manage the accurate tracking of cannabis inventory, including cultivation, post-harvest, manufacturing, and sales activities, through the METRC system. Ensure all processes comply with state and local regulations.
Data Entry & Accuracy:
Enter all cannabis-related data into the METRC system promptly and accurately. This includes tracking plant and product movements, transfers, and testing results. Performing regular audits and reporting any discrepancies to the higher management.
Troubleshooting & Technical Support:
Provide technical support to staff using the METRC platform. Aid other departments in better understanding and using METRC within production. Troubleshoot any issues related to the system to ensure smooth operations. Brainstorm with higher management to problem solve METRC issues that arise.
Inventory Management:
Track and monitor inventory levels from seed-to-sale, ensuring all products are accounted for and discrepancies are resolved.
Conduct regular audits to ensure that all operations are in full compliance with cannabis regulations and address any discrepancies or violations immediately.
Training & Support:
Provide training to facility team members on METRC best practices and compliance standards. Ensure that all staff are knowledgeable about the system and its requirements.
Reporting:
Generate and submit compliance reports to state regulators as required. Maintain records for internal purposes and audits.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field (business, logistics, etc.) is a plus.
Experience:
At least 1 year of experience working with METRC or other cannabis tracking systems is required. Previous experience in inventory management, compliance, or the cannabis industry is preferred but not required.
Cannabis Industry Knowledge:
Familiarity with state-specific cannabis laws, regulations, and METRC best practices.
Certification:
METRC certification or completion of relevant training programs is a plus but not needed for hire. Training and certifications will be completed upon hire if they do not have them prior to hire.
Proficiency with METRC is essential. Experience with other software systems (inventory management, POS systems, etc.) is a plus.
Work Environment:

· MUST BE comfortable coming forward when seeing discrepancies and talking processes over with Management.
· Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
· Work closely with other departments (cultivation, production, sales) to ensure seamless tracking of inventory and products through all stages.
· Ability to identify issues within the system and quickly implement solutions to ensure ongoing compliance.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
· Oversee general organization of METRC material both electronically and in person.
· Ability to handle high volume data and auditing products within all departments.
· Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required, depending on business needs.
o This is a seven-day operation facility.
· Able to properly communicate with team members and other works regarding interna audits and discrepancies found.
· Performs other duties as assigned within their department regarding METRC tracking and maintenance/duties.
