Our Direct Support Professional (DSP) assist children and young adult individuals with disabilities and special needs in a class room setting and out in the community. This person is responsible for providing assistance with activities and games, meal prep or snack, social engagement with peers, daily living skills, and toileting.
Here is what you can do for Wabash Center as our Direct Support Professional (DSP):
- Have an interest in and empathy for persons with disabilities
- Provide personal care support for those that we serve
- Assist individuals with their finances, shopping and bill paying and other daily requirements as needed
- Provide assistance to those we serve for their medical needs, including medication administration, and timely reporting of any medical issues/concerns
- Implement high needs plans and/or behavior plans as outlined by the immediate supervisor and interdisciplinary team
- Ensure community activities are occurring as planned by providing transportation and care to those we serve for the various activities
- Ability to write reports and document observations and activities
- Provide individualized attention to those we serve, which encourages each individual's ability to maintain or attain the highest physical and mental well-being
- Be a rock start representative of Wabash Center to the individuals we serve and their family members or guardians
