What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Associate for Wabash Democracy and Public Discourse position at Wabash College?
Wabash College invites applications for the position of Program Associate for Wabash Democracy and Public Discourse (WDPD). Reporting to the Director of WDPD, this 11-month staff-focused position will involve supporting a robust civic engagement and leadership program.
The Program Associate’s duties include:
- Administrative tasks, including scheduling, maintaining program records, and managing overall program organization.
- Coordiating and managing civic engagement events both on- and off-campus including event space reservations, catering, and other event supplies.
- Supervising and scheduling undergraduate students in deliberation project design and facilitation.
- Assisting with program logistics, scheduling, grant and financial reporting, and additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred, ideally with some experience or training in deliberation and dialogue, civic engagement, or community building
- Demonstrated interest in local government, civic engagement, and productive communication.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially in creating reports and interacting with multiple stakeholder groups.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple project timelines efficiently.
- Experience or interest in organizing and facilitating community engagement events, managing small teams, and building professional relationships with community partners.
Employment Information:
This is an 11-month full-time, salaried position with anticipated initial appointment of approximately July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026. Position includes the possibility for renewal based upon annual review and institutional needs.
