The Orthopaedic Surgery Coordinator prepares and analyzes clinical data and collaborates with medical staff to prepare patients and families for surgery; obtains medical and social histories, orders tests through delegated protocols. Educates patients and families regarding all aspects of surgical care in relations to their condition. Communicates with 3rd party payers regarding issues of medical necessity and benefits for their clients. Provides for continuity of care following evaluation for surgery and between inpatient admissions and outpatient visits. Collaborates with medical faculty, medical staff, nursing personnel and other health disciplines to facilitate meeting patient and family needs. Provides telephone consultation and follow-up to support patients and their families. This requires the ability to recognize patient problems and symptoms, apply appropriate medical interventions and protocols, and interpreting these to physicians and health professionals involved in the care with the patient and family.
Requirements :
- Current RN license in IL.
- 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience.
- Current BLS certification.
