Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Collaborate with administration, teachers, counselors, and community members for alternative student developmentOversee the digital learning platform for all alternative students (currently utilizing APEX)Work collaboratively with the designated counselors to create and oversee in person instructional courses for the alternative students that meet the IDOE course descriptions.Track individual student data as determined in the alternative program student handbookScheduled on going meetings with parents and key stakeholders to review student data and academic progressMake appropriate program recommendations to administration for the students best interestAbility to guide and mentor challenging students in a positive directionAbility to reach out to business owners to create partnerships for our alternative students to develop employability opportunitiesAbility to reach out to community agencies, community members, and other key stakeholders to provide students with ongoing support and guidanceCreative, growth, and progressive mindsetProvide a Social Emotional Learning curriculum to the students as designated by the school corporation.Create a positive educational climate for students to learn inParticipate in ongoing professional development.Maintain grade books.Utilize various curriculum resources.Observe, evaluate, and report student's performance.Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
Contract Days : 184 Days
Pay Rate : $21.75 / Hour

Education and / or Work Experience Requirements : 4 or more years of relevant experiencePass expanded criminal history check and expanded child protection index check required by IC 20-26-5-10Apply for an Adjunct Teaching Permit in the content area of "Blended and Online Teaching"Experience in working with challenging youthExperience in running a virtual classroomAble to work effectively and communicate with a wide range of students, staff and administration.Proficient and competent demonstration of reading and writing capabilities.Strong human relations skills, including professional tact, diplomacy and presentation.Multi-tasking ability and strong organizational skills.Ability to utilize 21st century technological skills to enhance teaching and learning.Maintain a Substitute Teaching PermitComplete any and all training within the prescribed timeframes for adjunct teaching license per Indiana Code.
