Summary: With minimal supervision, apply knowledge of litigation and document management, as well as experience as a paralegal to provide outstanding paralegal support to attorneys on complex litigation matters. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support attorneys in all aspects of the Firm’s litigation practice. Provide proactive leadership to litigation teams, including anticipating attorneys’ needs, and advising and mentoring junior paralegals on matters and assignments. Cite-check legal documents to conform citations and authorities to The Bluebook and other citation standards, shepardize authorities, verify the accuracy of quoted material and cited documents, and other proofreading tasks. Assist with the collection, review and organization of discovery materials. Coordinate with the Automated Legal Support Department to create, maintain and update document databases. Prepare documents for production and create document production logs, privilege logs and redaction logs. Assist attorneys with the preparation and filing of pleadings and other court documents. Assist attorneys in conducting and organizing legal research utilizing court websites, online resources, and legal research databases. Prepare witness prep binders, deposition exhibits, case chronologies and other materials. Organize and maintain deposition transcripts, exhibits and related materials; review transcripts and prepare errata sheets. Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, expert materials, attorney notebooks and other documents in hardcopy and electronic binders. Summarize articles, reports, witness statements, deposition transcripts and other materials. Assist legal teams at depositions, witness interviews, presentations, conferences, hearings, oral arguments and trials. Assist in scheduling of court reporters, videographers and room reservations for depositions. Work on special departmental projects and handle other duties as assigned. Conform to the Firm’s confidentiality guidelines. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Must possess a high level of proficiency with litigation databases, including Relativity and deposition transcript management databases. Must possess a high level of expertise with cite-checking legal documents and utilizing The Bluebook. Must possess a high level of proficiency with legal research databases (e.g. Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law). Must possess a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Must have significant experience with court systems and court docketing websites (e.g. PACER, NYSCEF). Must have significant experience utilizing document management systems, file transfer platforms, mobile devices and basic information governance. Must be able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints. Ability to protect and maintain confidential, privileged, or other sensitive information and materials in accordance with all Firm policies. Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for extended periods of time. Must have interpersonal and communication skills necessary to effectively liaise between attorneys, clients, various support departments and outside vendors. This position frequently requires work hours in excess of 35 hours per week in order to perform the essential duties of the position. Ability and willingness to extend the workday and/or contribute on weekends as needed is required. Must have the ability to travel upon short notice. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum 5 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal, including extensive trial experience. Experience working on complex litigation is preferred. Ideal candidate would be from an AmLaw 100 firm, government agency, or general counsel's office. Working Conditions: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. The expected base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $135,000. The base salary offer is based on a variety of factors which includes, but is not limited to, qualifications, education and experience.
