As a Purchasing Associate, you will be instrumental in driving our procurement process, ensuring that we acquire the necessary goods and services efficiently and cost-effectively. Your key responsibilities will involve cultivating strong vendor relationships, skillfully negotiating contracts to secure the best terms, and meticulously maintaining accurate records that support our organization's operational excellence. What you will do
Vendor Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors.
Sourcing and Procurement:
- Source and purchase goods and services in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations, negotiate terms, and issue purchase orders.
Price Negotiation:
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.
- Continuously seek opportunities for cost savings and improved value.
Order Processing:
- Process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Track and manage order status, and coordinate with suppliers to resolve any issues.
Contract Management:
- Review and negotiate contracts with vendors to ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
- Monitor contract performance and address any deviations.
Inventory Management:
- Work closely with parts room and production teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Coordinate with suppliers to manage lead times and order quantities.
Quality Control:
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that purchased items meet specified standards.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchasing transactions.
- Generate reports on purchasing activities for management review.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations affecting procurement.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, production, and logistics.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and meet their procurement needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management or as necessary to meet the organization's needs.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles.
- Familiarity with procurement software and systems.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Preferred
- Familiarity with AS400 and SAP is a plus.
