Safety Specialist

DIMOR Group comprises our suite of Companies headquartered in Battle Creek, Michigan. WACO Aircraft is the world's only manufacturer of 1930's era biplanes. Our planes are carefully and skillfully built by hand. Centennial Aircraft Service is a Part 145 Repair Station and does everything from restoring vintage aircraft to providing new avionics and engines to current aircraft Junkers Aircraft is our newest company that encompasses our lightest and sleekest model LSA airplane made from corrugated aluminum, known as the A50, complete with a ballistic parachute.

What you will do

As a Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs within the organization. Additionally, you will design and deliver training programs to ensure that employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and efficiently. This role requires a strong understanding of safety regulations, training methodologies, and the ability to CREATE A CULTURE OF SAFETY AWARENESS.

• Develop, implement, and manage safety model programs based on the specific needs and risks of the organization. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits of current practices and provide process improvements to ensure compliance and safety of all employees with current safety standards.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to create engaging and effective training materials, including manuals, presentations, and online modules.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and regulations to ensure training programs remain current and relevant.
• Conduct training sessions for employees, emphasizing safety protocols, emergency procedures, and job-specific skills.
• Utilize various training methods, including hands-on training, workshops, and e-learning platforms, to cater to different learning styles.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments and feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
• Ensure that all documentation complies with regulatory requirements and can be readily accessed for audits.
• Communicate safety-related information to all levels of the organization, promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
• Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to keep employees informed and engaged in safety initiatives.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
• Coordinate drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency plans and identify areas for improvement.
• All other tasks as assigned.

What we are looking for

• High School Diploma or GED required; baa helor's degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field is preferred.
• 2-5 years of direct experience with proven experience in Safety and training, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Familiarity with aviation regulations and safety practices.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and schedules.
• Strong sense of time organization and urgency
• Able to work successfully on a team and equally well as an individual.

Certificates & Licenses and Specialized Training:

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Forklift Qualified / Certification
• Respiratory Protection certified.
• OSHA 30, 10 certified preferred
• Occupational Noise Exposure certified preferred
• Bloodborne Pathogens training desirable
• PPE training desirable
• CPR/First Aid trained preferred

Pay: $33.75 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
