The Equity Patient Outreach Intern supports Waco Family Medicine’s (WFM) outreach and events activities throughout our service area. This position requires working with our Equity Department, People Team, and in the community with multiple and diverse entities and community partners to support and implement initiatives that not only increase the organization’s visibility but meet the needs of the communities we serve. Duties include maintaining a calendar for outreach events, supporting the communications team in various tasks related to internal and external communications, marketing initiatives, and public relations efforts. This role offers hands-on experience in the dynamic field of communications and is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills in a professional environment.
Qualifications
Duties:
Effectively evaluate and follow up on successes, challenges and opportunities from meetings and events.
Assist and collaborate with fellow WFM staff in educating the public on WFM services/programs at outreach events.
Collaborate with the Marketing Department in the planning and execution of internal & external promotional campaigns, i.e., Black Maternal Health Week.
Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading content for various channels, including newsletters, press releases, social media posts, and website updates.
Effectively and articulately communicate with diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.
Support the management of social media platforms by scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing metrics to gauge effectiveness.
Assist with basic graphic design tasks, including creating visuals for presentations, social media, or promotional materials.
Provide general administrative support, such as maintaining databases, organizing files, and coordinating meetings or appointments.
Other tasks as needed to support the ongoing functioning and success of the organization.
Eligibility:
Currently enrolled in a degree program related to communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with communication tools and platforms.
Basic understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing trends.
Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate initiative to work independently and offer suggestions and feedback.
Note: This position is built to be a hybrid experience with in-person requirements as well as opportunities for independent virtual work.
