Waco, Inc. is seeking a knowledgeable, professional, motivated individual to join our team as we continue to grow and serve our customers in the heavy industrial and commercial mechanical industry!
Position: Construction Superintendent
Job Summary: Responsible for the management and execution of work in heavy industrial mechanical, water/wastewater treatment, commercial plumbing/HVAC, and underground utility projects. In this role, you will utilize your expertise to oversee the day-to-day activities of crews throughout multiple job sites to ensure successful projects and maintain positive client relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Supervise field crew and subcontractors, coordinate job site activities, and ensure safety practices are in place to maintain a safe and positive work environment.
· Establish productive and efficient job sites to ensure successful projects.
· Maintain a proactive culture among crews and subcontractors to meet weekly and monthly milestones.
· Hold weekly safety meetings to discuss job site safety practices with field crew/subcontractors.
· Communicate with owner’s on-site representative to maintain an open line of communication throughout the course of a project to ensure the customer’s needs are being met.
· Read and interpret contract documents and engineered drawings to verify that the intent and scope of the work is being met.
· Work with Project Manager to perform constructability reviews to create schedules, budgets, RFIs, etc. for multiple projects.
· Submit daily reports/timesheets to capture events/issues on the job sites.
· Perform takeoffs, order tools and materials, and schedule equipment deliveries to maintain efficiently functioning job sites.
· Maintain overall site cleanliness to provide a safe, organized, and professional job site.
· Address issues in construction and work with Project Manager, Engineers, Owners, etc. to develop cost effective solutions.
Qualifications:
· Proficient in reading and interpreting contract documents and drawings.
· Moderate computer skills and experience with management software programs.
· Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
· Be knowledgeable in general mechanical construction techniques and be able to apply this knowledge to a variety of projects.
· Have the ability to manage the progress and quality of field crews and subcontractors.
· Be able to sequence job site activities so that the best working practices are being used to ensure the safety of all personnel on site.
· OSHA 10 or 30 certified, CPR/AED.
· Have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and clean criminal history (a pre-employment background check and drug screen will be performed).
Excellent communication skills. Ability to relay information with in -house crews, subcontractors and customers, both verbally and via e-mail.
