Primary Purpose:
Oversee the operation and effectiveness of the district’s safety protocols and student management program, district alternative education programs, and juvenile justice alternative education program. Provide leadership and management of discipline management, safety guidelines, and emergency operations. Ensure the overall safety and well-being of students in an inclusive, equitable learning environment.

Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of state and local disciplinary guidelines and laws
Knowledge of methods, principles, techniques, and procedures concerning the operation, assessment, and evaluation of the District’s disciplinary and safety programs
Ability to utilize culturally relevant practices with diverse student and family populations
Ability to interpret laws, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of wrap-around student services

Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years experience supporting students working in an educational environment, training staff, and/or providing technical support.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversee and ensure compliance in all areas of the educational program impacted by discipline, safety, and security protocols. This includes operating and managing district programs and initiatives as assigned.
- Collaborate with campus principals and district administrators in the selection, development, and implementation of programs, strategies, and initiatives that will result in the elimination of inequitable disciplinary practices, leading to the successful school completion of all students.
- Direct the district’s student management program, including serving as the district’s designee for all discipline appeals and ensuring proper investigative protocols, dissemination of required reports, and accurate PEIMS coding.
- Assume responsibility for providing professional development and support to administrators and other staff members to ensure the successful implementation of the Student Code of Conduct.
- Facilitate appropriate use of the district’s alternative education programs, including oversight and supervision of the juvenile justice alternative education program.
- Oversee the district's comprehensive safety and security programs, including emergency management compliance with drills, TEA audit requirements, and training.
- Work collaboratively with the Waco ISD Police Department Coordinator for Emergency Preparedness and Security.
- Stay current on all applicable safety and security guidelines and mandates.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervisory and evaluate the DAEP Program and Principal, JJAEP program and Director, and Student Management Coordinator.
