Position Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Structural Bridge Engineer in support of our growing footprint in the Transportation Market Segment in the Midwest. In this role, you will lead, manage and perform conventional and complex bridge design and analysis, plan preparation, load ratings, bridge inspections, condition assessments as well as other transportation structural engineering related tasks. Candidates must be self-motivated, organized and able to work independently and collaboratively with others as well as mentor younger staff. A flexible hybrid-remote/office work schedule is available after 90 days.
\n- Manage and be the technical lead for analysis, design, and construction support services for various bridge types, culverts, earth retaining structures and other underground structures
- Prepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages using federal, state, and local specifications, standards and guidelines
- Prepare geometric/bridge layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations
- Assist and check design calculations performed by others
- Successfully interface with staff from a range of other disciplines (traffic, civil, planning, geotechnical, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects
- Conduct various types of bridge load ratings
- Conduct bridge inspections/scoping and condition assessments
- Lead efforts on proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentations
- Assist with and monitor scope, budget, and schedule for new and existing projects
- Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering
- 8 years of transportation structural experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles
- Experience with AASHTO LRFD, AREMA and DOT’s specifications and standards
- Solid background and understanding of Structural engineering software packages
- Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills
- Experience with structural analysis and design of conventional and complex bridges and knowledge in midwest DOT’s (MDOT, ODOT, etc) and Local Agency bridge design packages
- NHI Bridge Inspection certification is desired, or ability to obtain certification
- Detail oriented with an emphasis on quality work products and deliverables
