Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Senior Water/Wastewater Utility Manager for our Monroe, LA office to oversee the operations, maintenance, and management of water and wastewater systems. This includes ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of clean water to the community and the proper treatment and disposal of wastewater.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include
Operational Management: - Oversee the daily operations of water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Ensure that the facilities are properly maintained and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Staff Supervision and Development: -- Manage a team of engineers, technicians, operators, and support staff.
- Provide training and professional development for staff.
- Establish clear roles and responsibilities for team members and ensure they are met.
Regulatory Compliance: - Ensure that the water and wastewater systems comply with environmental laws and regulations, including safe drinking water standards and wastewater discharge requirements.
- Prepare for and manage inspections from regulatory bodies.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations and ensure the utility adapts accordingly.
Budget and Financial Oversight: - Develop and manage the budget for the water/wastewater department, ensuring financial resources are used efficiently.
- Review financial reports, manage capital improvement projects, and oversee expenditures for maintenance and upgrades.
Infrastructure Management: - Manage the maintenance and upgrading of water and wastewater infrastructure (pipes, pumps, valves, treatment facilities, etc.).
- Oversee system inspections, emergency repairs, and long-term planning for infrastructure development.
Project Planning and Implementation: - Plan and implement capital improvement projects (e.g., facility upgrades, new construction).
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and other professionals on these projects.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Public Relations: - Communicate with the public, government officials, and other stakeholders regarding utility operations, safety, and any planned service interruptions.
- Respond to complaints and issues from the public, working to resolve concerns.
Emergency Response: -Develop and implement emergency response plans for natural disasters, system failures, and other crises.
- Ensure the utility is prepared for emergencies and that systems can be quickly restored.
Data Analysis and Reporting: - Review data from water and wastewater systems to monitor performance, efficiency, and compliance.
- Prepare regular reports for stakeholders, including government agencies and the public.
Sustainability and Innovation: - Develop and implement sustainable practices, such as water conservation, energy-efficient technologies, and waste recycling.
- Stay informed about new technologies and methodologies to improve utility operations and sustainability.
- 5-10 years of experience in water and wastewater systems, including supervisory or managerial experience.
- Hands-on experience with water treatment and wastewater processes, regulatory compliance, budget management, and personnel management.
- Water/Wastewater certifications strongly preferred.
- Leadership and team management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and local, state, and federal laws.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, staff, and the public.
