What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Estimator position at Waggoner Manufacturing?
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The manufacturing estimator is responsible for analyzing blueprints, solid models, specifications, proposals and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for machined parts. This role is integral in providing accurate quotes to customers and requires a working knowledge of CNC machining operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and quantify cost factors including production time, materials and labor expenses.
- Read and fully understand drawings, 3D solid models, technical documents, part specifications, and material requirements in preparation of estimates.
- Collaborate with machinists, programmers, Purchasing, and the sales manager on any changes and adjustments to cost estimates that will improve efficiency and profitability while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Reaches out to customers for technical issues to help with the quoting process
- Navigate computer ERP system to create quotes, add new items, and revise existing items as needed for customer needs.
- Use SolidWorks, Mastercam, or other software to analyse 3D models.
- Create quotes that are accurate, error-free, and follow all internal standards.
- Ensure quotes are returned to clients in a timely fashion and meet client needs.
- Work with all departments to prepare estimates, bids and timelines. Perform time studies on these departments as requested.
- Perform other duties and assist with specific duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Working knowledge of CNC machining processes
- Working knowledge of different material types and their characteristics
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Competency with computers
- Consistency and attention to detail
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 4 years of CNC machining experience
- 2 years of estimating experience
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- This position will be working primarily in office conditions, but employee may be expected to machine and/or work elsewhere in the building.
- Must be able to work 10-hour shifts, four days per week.
- Some standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, reaching.
