Job Description:
Wagner Construction is currently looking to add a Superintendent to their team for a confidential mission-critical project.
The Superintendent will be responsible for providing direct in-field supervision to sub-trades, earthwork, and pipe crews working on all phases of construction, maintenance, and repair operations and programs. This includes directing the sub-trades and crews in the earthwork and installation of storm sewers, waste water lines, and water mains.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assessing job priorities and assigning employees to appropriate tasks.
- Recording a Daily Job Diary using HCSS Heavy Job.
- Understanding required productions and meeting goals.
- Keeping a set of as-built plans.
- Submitting timecards and trucking reports weekly.
- Ensuring employees have necessary tools and equipment for safe and efficient work.
- Overseeing work and ensuring it runs smoothly according to the project plan.
- Giving clear directions to crews to avoid repetitive mistakes or rework.
- Maintaining company rules and holding daily safety meetings.
- Acting as leader and supervisor for small crews engaged in road/highway construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
- Supervising operations, directing subcontractors, and maintaining material inventory in the absence of the Superintendent.
- Ensuring equipment is safe and ready for operation at all times.
Job Qualifications:
- 5 years of pipe experience within the public works or heavy civil construction industry.
- Experience reading blueprints.
- Field supervision experience is required.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Required Skills:
- Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and techniques relative to utility, road/highway construction, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of field safety.
- Ability to identify additional work not identified in plans and specs.
- Ability to read engineering plans and blueprints.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally with the crew.
- Flexibility: ability to work in diverse locations as work locations may change daily.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Frequently performs physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body.
- Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery, and tools.
- Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.
- Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
- May be exposed to harsh weather conditions.
- May be exposed to loud noise.
