The Instrumentation Technician will work to determine what improvement and repair projects are needed and schedule their weekly work to optimize production facilities to produce.
The key functions include : Timely and effective completion of improvement and repair projects. Working with Production to schedule downtime for projects, measurement of project effectiveness and reporting of KPIs, such as wrench time, MTTF, MTTR, etc. Working with the operation team to conduct Continual Improvement activities to optimize performance of chemical packaging and / or processing equipment, such as reactors, fillers, pumps and scales.
- Ensure good personal safety practices are followed, including but not limited to OSHA and EPA.
- Understanding how to obtain safety information on chemical SDSs.
- Inspect equipment as required to properly maintain, and clean assigned machine / equipment / area.
- Demonstrating ISO standards are being followed. Includes recording and verifying accurate information is reported on all documentation.
- Making suggestions for improvements to equipment, work practices, processes, and areas.
- Instructing other departments about safety and equipment operation when required.
- Perform maintenance on equipment, report equipment malfunctions using the appropriate notification system.
- Responsible for daily maintenance work orders and to communicate resource needs to the team.
- Participate in the continuous improvement processes for safety, quality, service, and productivity.
- Communication with engineering and quality assurance to interpret and establish technical requirements
- Interface with production, sales, and warehouse in order to schedule equipment downtime for repairs and improvements
- CMMS system set up. Work order management system development and training users to utilize systems. Oversight to ensure projects are completed quickly and in order of priority.
- Maintain Shop and Parts Room and all Maintenance Department areas to 5S standards.
- Management of equipment documentation.
- Oversight and leadership of troubleshooting.
- Maintain continuity among shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
