Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and handling, with a focus on dog training techniques. This role involves working closely with dogs of various breeds and temperaments, helping them to learn obedience, socialization skills, and good behavior. The Dog Trainer will also educate pet owners on effective training methods to enhance the bond between them and their pets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement training programs tailored to individual dogs' needs.
- Conduct group training classes and private sessions for dog owners.
- Assess dogs' behavior and progress, adjusting training techniques as necessary.
- Provide guidance to pet owners on proper handling, care, and training methods.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for both dogs and their owners during training sessions.
- Collaborate with veterinary staff or other animal professionals when necessary for behavioral assessments.
- Keep accurate records of each dog's training progress and communicate updates to pet owners.
- Stay current with the latest dog training techniques and trends in animal behavior.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dog handling or training is preferred; experience as a kennel worker, veterinary assistant, or veterinary technician is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of animal care principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and understanding towards animals.
- Familiarity with various dog breeds and their specific behavioral traits.
- Skills in animal restraint and handling to ensure safety during training sessions.
- Certification from an accredited dog training program is desirable but not mandatory.
- A passion for working with animals and enhancing their quality of life through effective training.

Pay: $16.33 - $20.78 per hour
