What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The MA, under the supervision of the Clinic Operations Manager, is responsible for performing a variety of duties while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary health care team to deliver optimal patient care services and manage care within the framework of Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). The MA maintains an enhanced role within this model of care that promotes concepts of proactive team-based care,
population management and principles of PCMH to develop a highly functional primary care workforce to provide higher quality care to a larger population.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. High School Diploma required
2. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or greater required. If greater (LPN or BSN), completion of program must occur within 3 years of applying for MA position
3. Current CMA or RMA certification or greater required
4.Current BLS/BCLS certification required. Needs to be approved following AHA guidelines. Online certification acceptable if hands-on training completed and documentation can be provided to support (email from instructor, class roster or expired AHA BLS/BCLS card)
5. One year medical experience in a physician's office or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred; will train a highly-motivated new graduate
