What You'll Be Doing

Wake County Child Welfare currently serves over 700 children in our foster care system. Child Protective Services (CPS) is responsible for protecting children and enhancing their overall well-being by supporting and strengthening families. The Child Welfare division has three federally mandated goals. The first goal is safety - children will be protected from harm from child abuse and neglect. The second goal is permanence - children entering foster care will be reunited with family or placed in a new permanent home as quickly as possible. The third goal is well-being - the educational, health, and overall well-being of children in foster care or receiving Child Protective Services In-Home Services will be enhanced. Federal, state, and local policy dictate that Child Welfare seeks to accomplish these three goals by supporting and strengthening families.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the task of assigning A/N/D reports to CPS social workers daily by reading the reports and consulting with the manager when necessary
  • Ensure required documentation is signed appropriately and timely and uploaded into OnBase, and ensure social workers are knowledgeable regarding current and revised policies, protocols, statues, etc
  • Ensure that social workers are assigning the appropriate risk level based on the care parents/caretakers provide for their children when a new report is initiated and throughout the life of the case
  • Ensure social workers grow by having them attend mandatory trainings throughout the year for the county and state
  • Conduct weekly meetings with the CPS assessors and semimonthly meetings with the in-home workers to staff cases for guidance and case decisions

The acceptable candidate must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive to various locations to visit families and maintain appointments.
