Job Description:
The Special Education Teacher coordinates and provides direct instructional programs for students with disabilities. They monitor and evaluate these programs, maintain confidentiality, and comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
- Provides specially designed instruction using various teaching methods and strategies
- Monitors student behavior and maintains a safe and conducive learning environment
- Evaluates student progress and adjusts instruction as needed
- Communicates with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure collaboration and support
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Special Education or related field
- North Carolina Professional Educators License in an Exceptional Children's teaching area
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license
- First Aid and CPR certifications (preferred)
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification (preferred)
