Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is eligible for hybrid telework workweek
POSITION PURPOSE :
Utilizes the Transportation Information Management System (TIMS), a Geographic Information System (GIS) based computer-assisted school bus routing system, to develop non-Special Education transportation bus stops, runs, and routes. Applies Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) Board policies and departmental practices to provide efficient and on time services to students. Uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) based Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) system to ensure stops, runs, and routes are successful; conducts audits to verify efficiency success.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of WCPSS policies and procedures relating to general pupil transportation;
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; Google Apps;
- Knowledge of WCPSS Transportation systems and processes;
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- Ability to read and interpret maps;
- Ability to be adaptive and a self-starter;
- Ability to organize and analyze information to identify problems and devise solutions;
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service, ensuring customer satisfaction;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, external agencies, and vendors.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to use a variety of office and warehouse equipment, such as computers, scanners, copiers, cameras, forklifts, pallet jacks, pallet stretch wrap machines, and scales. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 50lbs. Work requires operating automotive equipment. Must be able to stand and / or walk consistent with medium work. Must be able to work in a warehouse and an office environment and come into direct contact with school system staff, students, vendors, and the community.
