Emergency Service Worker Statement
In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Join the dedicated Wake County Payroll Team, where your work makes a direct impact on Wake employees! We are seeking a Payroll Analyst with a keen eye for detail and a passion for accuracy to perform payroll activities that have direct impact on Wake employee’s pay.
The Payroll Analyst Will
- Ensure time is posted in the HRIS system accurately and within payroll deadlines
- Process timesheet corrections and ensure timesheet data is accurate for each pay period
- Identify and resolve payroll-related issues, taking corrective actions when necessary
- Audit and process payroll-related forms, including withholding tax, direct deposit, 401(k), 457 plans and NC Retirement Systems Division (ORBIT) forms
- Process employee terminations and ensure final payouts are accurate
- Process employee garnishments (e.g., education loan, child support, taxes) and ensure accuracy from garnishment setup in HRIS system to deducting from employee paychecks through disbursement of garnishment
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure new hires are onboarded efficiently. Work with internal departments to ensure employee status updates are recorded properly in the system.
- Back up to other payroll team members as needed
- Work closely with Finance department on payroll related funding

Required
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- Three years of experience in payroll administration
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted
- Please include ALL prior work experience on your application and resume.
- Experience processing a high-volume of data entry and processing tasks, particularly payroll-related actions
- State/local government experience in North Carolina
- Experience with garnishments
- Outstanding Communication and Customer Service: Capable of explaining complex or sensitive topics in a professional and respectful manner
- Customer-Focused Mindset: Committed to providing thorough support, ensuring all customer inquiries are answered
- Exceptional Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with the ability to manage tasks efficiently
- Effective Multitasking: Can prioritize and handle multiple requests and deadlines simultaneously
- Proficient Data Entry: Skilled in accurate and efficient data input
- Software Proficiency: Comfortable using web-based software and familiar with commonly used programs, such as the Microsoft Office suite
- Quick Learner: Ability to rapidly adapt to new software and technology tools
- Independent and Collaborative: Self-driven and organized when working alone, yet a supportive team player within the Payroll Team, HR, and with other County Departments
