Contribute to positive patient outcomes through technical cardiovascular testing as a Cardiology Stress Technician for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, NC.
What You Will Do :
Renders highly skilled, technical cardiovascular testing to various age levels ranging from pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatrics while maintaining a safe testing environment. Provides patient comfort and care. Provides effective communication with other health professionals regarding patient's medical history and test results, which contributes to positive patient outcomes.
What You Will Need :
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology with one year basic EKG recognition and interpretation and course work in EKGs, exercise physiology, exercise prescription, cardiovascular pharmacology, anatomy, and pathophysiology preferred.
- OR High school diploma/GED and five years of practical work experience with EKGs in exercise physiology, exercise prescription, cardiovascular pharmacology, anatomy, and pathophysiology required.
- Patient contact through clinical experience or internship performing exercise or pharmacological stress testing preferred.
- Current completion of BCLS course required. ACLS preferred.
- American College of Sports Medicine certification as Exercise Specialist preferred.
Job Duties include :
- Minimizes risks to patients during testing through judgment and meticulous pre-test screening and risk stratification.
- Minimizes patient risk during procedures through application of cardiology stress testing knowledge and established departmental protocols.
- Ensures patient confidence and comfort.
- Ensures quality of professional services.
- Minimizes delays through scheduling and lab maintenance.
- Maintains safe and secure testing environment.
- Provides accurate and reliable diagnostic results.
- Provides effective communication to physicians and ancillary personnel.
- Maintains patient files.
- Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient procedures are provided in accordance with Age-Specific Procedure Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
Skills for Success :
- Ability to communicate on a professional level with physicians and ancillary personnel regarding patient's medical history and diagnostic test result
- Ability to communicate/interact on a professional basis with patients and their families
