What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Lab Technician I, Nephrology position at Wake Forest Baptist Health?
Function of Job
Under the direct supervision from a principal investigator or a higher level research associate, the candidate is expected to assist in the performance of clinical study sample handling, biological tests, data entry and management, cell culture, and basic microscopy.
Education/Experience
- Associate's degree in Biotechnology or related scientific field of study; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor of Science in Biology or related fields and prior research lab experiences preferred
Essential Functions
- Assures accurate and timely performance of specimen processing and QA procedures according to the departmental policy.
- Assures completeness and accuracy of data registration.
- Follows proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance or environment.
- Improves work skill through self-study and continuing education.
- Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department.
- Protects self, coworkers, and the facility by following approved policies and procedures prevent the spread of blood-borne and/or air-borne diseases.
