What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Residency, Intermediate Care (Spring/Summer Cohort) position at Wake Forest Baptist Health?
The New Graduate Nurse provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). They lead and direct other assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.
Position Highlights
- Sign-On Bonus : $10,000 for qualified candidates!
- Unit: The Intermediate Care Unit specializes in the care of patients with a variety of acute and chronic disease processes, including pulmonary, neurological, renal, geriatric, and infectious disease. Many of the patients are stepping down from the intensive care unit but still require increased nursing supervision. Other patients require an increased level of care after an unstable event occurs on a general medical-surgical floor or they are transferring from an outside facility that cannot treat their acuity level.
- Facility: Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is a 885 bed, Level 1 Trauma Center located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina treating patients and families from across the region and around the world. WFBMC is the home to many medical firsts.
- Shift: Full-time, night shift
- Residency Program: New Graduate RNs at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist receive supportive training led by dedicated nurse educators, including clinical orientation with a preceptor, specialty-specific learning, and skill-building in clinical decision-making, teamwork, communication, and career development.

What You’ll Need
- Less than 6 months of RN experience
- Graduation from accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina Board of Nursing
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire, per unit guidelines
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year of hire, per unit guidelines
