JOB SUMMARY: Transports patients to and from the OR department. Cleans the operating suites, furnishings, and equipment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience in the medical field.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Following completion of orientation, employee is qualified to perform the functions of an Attendant - Operating Room. Completes 8 hours of required continuing education annually. CPR certification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Assists the registered nurse with teaching patient and family about condition. 2. Demonstrates ability to perform CPR skills, if applicable. 3. Serves as preceptor, if applicable. 4. Transports patients appropriately and safely. 5. Cleans operating room suites according to unit specific policy and procedure. 6. Maintains adequate linen/clothing level inventory. 7. Ensures that equipment/instrumentation/patient positioning is appropriate for age. 8. Maintains refrigerator log daily. Ensures that log is maintained and any variances reported to the Unit Coordinator or Director. 9. Works with patients throughout the life cycle (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and older adult).
