What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacist PRN, Wilkes Medical Center position at Wake Forest?
Job Summary: Supervises and directs support personnel, fills orders for medications, monitors drug therapies, and provides drug information. The pharmacist is an allied health professional who is responsible for control and utilization of medications throughout the hospital. Governed by state and federal regulations, the pharmacist performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment while maintaining standards of the profession.
Position Highlights:
- Pharmacist PRN
- Variable shifts, weekdays, weekends and holidays
- Wilkes Campus
- Variable 1st shift (7a-3:30p; 8a-4:30p) w/ 2nd shift rotation (1p-9:30p, every 4th) w/ WE (every 4th) and HOL rotation w/ on-call component
How You’ll Impact Patient Care:
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Process medication orders and prescriptions from physicians and nurses.
- Supervise technicians to ensure timely and accurate medication dispensing, optimizing staff utilization.
- Deliver pharmaceutical care for optimal patient outcomes.
- Contribute to quality improvement efforts through teamwork.
- Continuously update and document skills and knowledge.
- Maintain documentation for compliance with standards and regulations.
- Set personal goals to support departmental objectives.
- Provide age-appropriate care following guidelines.
- Foster a cooperative work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
What You Will Need:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is required.
- Current state pharmacist license in good standing through North Carolina Board of Pharmacy is required.

- Health system experience and knowledge of current trends and techniques in hospital pharmacy preferred.
